Baby Shower Activity - Baby Advice Cards

Showers are full of activities; from chatting with friends and family to eating to playing games and opening gifts. Shower games are a great way to break the ice and include your guests in the fun. Baby Showers can last from two to four hours. The traditional rule of thumb is to have 1-2 games or activities per hour. There are traditional or interactive games that can be played. Every "game" does not have to be a game. The purpose of these activities is to get guests chatting with each other, actively participate in the baby shower, pass the time while watching mom-to-be open her gifts, or while waiting for cake to be served. Keep your audience in mind when planning what types of games or activities to play.

One shower activity that all of your guests can participate in is to complete baby advice cards or booklets. Think about it - everyone has something to say. They may even have some unique knowledge that someone wouldn't think to tell mom-to-be. Or, perhaps someone has a funny baby related story that she'd like to share with mom-to-be. Why not have friends and family of the guest of honor give her advice, stories, or well wishes? Your guests will have different levels of parenting experience. At the very least they'll be able to wish her much happiness through their own words. There are sure to be some insightful, and possibly humorous, advice for mom-to-be.

You don't have to break the bank for this activity. You can purchase lined index cards in white or colors. There are also very affordable baby themed advice cards that you can purchase from retailers or even printable advice cards in many baby shower themes. Have your guests complete the advice cards when they arrive. Instruct your guests to place the completed cards in one location or collect them at a set time. While mom to be is busy enjoying her shower have a friend help you put the advice cards in a decorated box, a recipe card box, or a photo album. Yes, you can still find photo albums these days. This is an important part of the activity. Mom-to-be will have her hands full preparing for baby. The last thing she'll want to do is sort through the advice cards. Make it easy for her to read what her guests have to say.
