How to Make a Homemade Baby Ladybug Costume For Toddlers

Halloween is slowly approaching, and you must dress up your baby girl in a special costume. A Snow-White costume is for more grown up girls, a mermaid costume might be too difficult to make, but a baby ladybug costume is the perfect outfit for little girls up to 24 months. The whole outfit is made of a combination of red and black colors, but you will need some quality materials. Given the fact that she is so little, you need to avoid using materials that could cause an allergic reaction. The skin needs to breathe properly, so choose the fabric very carefully.

The easiest method is to use a simple dress for creating the baby ladybug costume. If you can find a satin dress for infants which has a black top and a red skirt that would be perfect. If not, you can use a top and a separate little red skirt. When you are searching through her miniature wardrobe, or shopping around for the ideal top and skirt, make sure these items are made of velvet, satin or cotton. Definitely avoid nylon, polyester or other materials that might cause allergies to her sensitive skin.

Now that you have found these, you can start accessorizing and you will shortly obtain the nicest little baby ladybug costume. Polka dots are the centerpiece detail for any ladybug outfit. Therefore, take a piece of black fabric and start drawing with a white marker circles on it. For easiness, you can use an item that has a perfectly round shape, and draw with the help of that. This can be a small cup or glass, or anything else that comes in handy and will do for the task. Then, with the help of a fabric adhesive, you will fit the black dots onto the red dress.

Be careful to stick these dots at irregular intervals, and avoid arranging them in a row. Thus, your sweet baby ladybug costume is almost ready. If you want to enhance further the ladybug outlook, you can have your little daughter wearing a pair of red dotted tights. These can be white or black with red dots.

The more colorful the outfit, the more joyous and funny it will be. If your little daughter can stand wearing hairpins, then you can fit one ladybug hairpin on one side. You can add ladybug wings if you want to, but that is not necessary. If you decide to create them yourself, make sure you will not use wire inlays; instead make them of carton paper coated with fabric, and draw some polka dots on it.

Easy Infant Halloween Costumes

Halloween night is drawing near and the race is on to find unique, infant Halloween costumes. We said our less than fond farewells to those smothering plastic masks that were once included in even the most cool costumes for kids. This in itself is a big improvement as it is difficult for even the most determined Trick or Treaters to have a good time when they are perspiring and uncomfortable. And when it comes to baby's first time out, they have a way of making their misery known. The best idea is to design Halloween outfits for infants that are not irritating to sensitive skin for the best chance of a pleasant night of Trick or Treating for the entire family.

Many modern infant Halloween costumes are actually embellished, sleepers with hoods that are decorated to resemble popular characters from television, the latest kids' movie or out of storybooks. Not only are they stylish, they are cute, and cuddly and easy to slip on and off in case of an emergency diaper change. For the family on a tight budget, baby's pajamas or a footed sleeper might be all the Halloween costume that is necessary for baby so long as you add a little bit of decorative face and an accessory or two.

FACE PAINTING

Easy Infant Halloween Costumes

Carefully select baby safe paints that are water based and specifically designed for use on sensitive skin. Look for an indication on the packaging that indicates that the paint is FDA approved for use on infants. When painting designs on a baby's skin, there is a greater danger of an allergic reaction than there might be when face painting on older children, so you might want to do a test on a tiny spot a few days before Halloween and even then keep the size and number of your designs to a minimum.

Another caution that I would share is to use a brush with baby soft bristles or a cotton swab that won't scratch or irritate.

FACE PAINTING DESIGN FOR BABIES

Whether baby's first infant Halloween costume is a baby bunny outfit, a kitty cat costume or a puppy dog, a few tiny whiskers or a paw print painted on baby's cheek will be sufficient. If you simply must take it a step further, you may want to paint the very end of baby's nose pink for the bunny and kitten costume or black for the puppy costume. If you have more than one child get all the kids in on the fun! Arrange for an entire family of kittens or puppies to go from house to house shouting Trick or Treat!

KEEPING YOUR INFANT'S HALLOWEEN COSTUME SIMPLE

To big kids, the idea of being painted up like little Frankenstein or ghouls and zombies with solid green faces is irresistible. However, I would say that it would be a huge mistake to paint a baby's face solid white to look like a ghost. The best advice I can give for a successful Halloween costume for babies is to keep it simple.

The odds are that the excitement of baby's first Halloween will be as exhausting for baby as it was enjoyable for the adults. When the festivities are over, you will be left with a tired baby and a Halloween costume that has to be removed. At this stage, you will recognize the wisdom of keeping the amount of face paint and clothing that has to be removed to a minimum was a super plan. Sometimes a quick way to wind down the activities can be just as important as designing baby's first Halloween costume.

Babies and Toddlers: Tips on Getting Sick

Just as the parents of older children hop that their child will be exposed to chicken pox when they are still young, a similar concept can be applied to the flu, common colds, etc. Don't hesitate to sign your child in to daycare for the day just because another child looks a bit under the weather. This is encouraged after infancy however when your baby reaches toddler hood (approximately 16 months) is a good time to ease your concerns about temporary illnesses your child can catch from other toddlers.

The concept behind the necessity of a child being exposed to chicken pox at an early age is that the disease is MUCH more harmful to an adult. And once you have had chicken pox, it is incredibly rare for a person to contract it again. Chicken pox is easier on children, and builds the proper immunity within their bodies to refuse the illness. If your child is not exposed to at least some of the common colds when he or she is young, you can be sure that the experience of becoming ill when he or she is older will be a much more painful one.

Again, exposure to any kind of disease is not going to be a pleasant experience for you or for your child--and yet it is essential that we allow it to happen. As with chicken pox, when your child becomes ill he or she will begin to build immunity to that illness. Not that your child will never get a cold ever again if he or she had a bad cold at eighteen months, but for the next cold the baby's body will know better how to fight it.

Babies and Toddlers: Tips on Getting Sick

When we are adults, there are often demands on our time, and getting sick can be more than an inconvenience. If an adult has been exposed to several kinds of illnesses as a child, in adulthood he or she is less likely to suffer as much or as long because biological protection has been built up in his or her immune system by previous exposure.

How to Handle Difficult Behavior of 2-3 Year Old Children

At the age of two to three years is when children really start learning about being independent, their favorite words become "no" and "mine" they like to think that they can do anything they want and if you believe them to think other that is where the problem comes in. Have you heard of the terrible two's? The terrible twos can be a difficult time for parents because the children are now starting to associate more with children their own age, they have no sense of fear so they believe they are in charge of even the parents. The "tantrums" become very difficult to deal with, your entire home needs to be toddler proofed and the children are very attached to the people who have been spending more time with them where as they will look at older individuals as a two or three year old like them.

The "two and three year old children stage" is the time you should really start teaching about right and wrong.. You can stay calm with your child and simply leverage all of the material things that your child wants (i.e. toys, games, anything electronic).

If you punishments, or time-outs this will be harder on you then it will on the child because you will want to cave in and give everything you have taken away from the child. If you return anything you have taken from the toddler before the lesson is learned he or she will not see your actions as serious and will continue normal behavior as if nothing has happened.

How to Handle Difficult Behavior of 2-3 Year Old Children

You want to make sure your child knows who the adult is and what his or her role is as a child otherwise you will have a major problem getting them started in daycare or preschool. Use a majority of time spent with your child providing learning activities such as reading, drawing, providing educational toys, or allowing them to help you prepare lunch or dinner. This will give the child something to occupy his or her time, as well as get into less "time out" worthy situations.

Do you want to learn exactly how to eliminate your child's out-of-control and defiant behavior without using Punishments, Time-Outs, Behavioral Plans, or Rewards?

Homemade Baby Slings - How to Make Your Own Baby Sling!

As many hip parents know, baby slings have become an increasingly popular mode of transporting your infant or toddler around - from A-list celebrities spotted wearing a designer Baby Bjorn with baby in tow, to everyday moms and dads on the go who choose to use a variety of baby slings and carriers, the baby carrier is the way to carry your little one in style!

Saving Green...

With today's ever-tightening economy, some parents are choosing to get crafty - and get sewing! While there are many gifted homemakers who enjoy making their own baby clothes, others are merely looking to save a penny or two and design their own easy-to-sew or no-sew baby wrap.

Homemade Baby Slings - How to Make Your Own Baby Sling!

Going Green...

There are also environmentally-conscious parents who would prefer to start their child's life on a green note - and organic baby slings are easily made, using natural fibers and textiles (such as hemp and unbleached cotton) as eco-friendly alternatives to synthetic materials used in traditional baby carriers.

Making a Scene!

Still others choose to express their creative side - crocheting, knitting and hand-stitching hip baby slings to suit their own personal style, crafty folks everywhere can consult a multitude of craft magazines and websites for how-to's and blogs when creating their own original baby sling designs.

Ready, Set...Sew!

So, whether you're on a budget, looking to express your artistic or creative side, or simply trying to live a greener lifestyle, it's easy to make your own cheap baby slings - below, DIY instructions to sew your own baby wrap!

HOW TO MAKE BABY SLINGS:

For anyone who has basic sewing skills, this is a fairly simple project:

1. First, choose your fabric at a local fabric store - since you will be sewing (or serging) the edges, you may choose woven cloth that is unfinished, as well as fleeces and cotton knits, as long as they don't curl up when cut.

2. Next, cut your cloth to the proper dimension - if you're purchasing your fabric in person, the salesperson can cut the cloth to your specifications; we recommend 20 to 35" wide and at least 5 yards (15 feet) long.

3. Finally, you will finish the edges by serging all four sides of the material.

If you do not have your own serger, we recommend hemming all the way around the four sides of the baby wrap. You may also choose to visit your local sewing machine store, which might let you borrow their serger for free or for a small fee; visiting a tailor or dry cleaners is another affordable option for finishing your baby wrap.

IMPORTANT TIP: DO NOT buy 2.5 yards of 2 different materials & sew them together to create 5 yards - this will result in a WEIGHT-BEARING seam, weakening your baby wrap & making it less safe!

Although this is a moderately easy sling project for some, sewing isn't quite an option for everyone, especially when you consider what you're transporting! For the rest of us less-than-crafty folks who want to carry their precious cargo stylishly (and safely!), it's not difficult to find inexpensive and cheap baby slings. There are many online sources, including Babysling.com, where you can find a great assortment of affordable baby slings & infant slings, including the ERGO baby carrier, Hotslings brand, Moby Wrap, Maya, Ellaroo, Baby K'Tan baby carrier and more! Whether you're looking for a baby backpack, a linen baby sling, a Velcro sling, organic slings or any other type of kid sling, you're sure to find a wonderful selection of moderately-priced, eco-friendly and stylish options at Babysling.com!
